BREAST LIFT FOR SAGGING BREASTS (Mastopexy)
Breast sagging or drooping usually occurs as a result of breast-feeding, drastic weight-loss or, simply due to ageing. A breast lift is a proven, effective surgical procedure to elevate the breast on the chest wall as well as reposition the nipple and areola (the pigmented area around the nipple). Scars are the greatest drawback of a breast lift. They will be around the nipple, and may also extend from the nipple down to the crease, and along the breast crease. The extent of scars is often related to the degree of droop: the greater the droop, the more extensive the scars. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. Patient has to wear special pressure dressing to form the breasts for 4 weeks after the operation. Stitches are taken out 7 – 14 days after the procedure. The most important thing following the surgery is to avoid physical effort and to provide proper healing conditions.
